The Strength of Teachers: A Time of Introspection to Care for Emotional Well-Being

As teachers, we are often so focused on our students' needs that we forget to take a moment to reflect on our own practice and personal goals. Introspection is a powerful tool that allows us to evaluate our approach in all areas of our lives, making us aware of our strengths and weaknesses.

That is why at The Oak Tree School, being a humanistic school with a strong sense of community, we seek spaces where we, the teachers, can pause and focus on ourselves. Today I invite you to stop and reflect on your role in the world and as an educator through a simple yet profound activity that will help you reconnect with your purpose and the decisions you make every day.

One of these spaces was the creation of a "Dream Board." A "Dream Board," also known as a "Vision Board," is a visual collage that represents a person's dreams, goals and aspirations. It is usually made up of images, words, phrases and other graphic elements that symbolize personal or professional objectives. The idea is that by visualizing this board regularly, focus and motivation to achieve those dreams are reinforced, using the power of positive visualization.

Two weeks before the activity, we took on the task of gathering content to build our own "Dream Board," with the goal of being more aware of and connected with ourselves, so that on the day of the activity we could capture everything that resonates with each of us.

On the day of the activity, we began with a meditation to focus our attention on the present moment and create an atmosphere that fostered creativity and self-connection.

Self-knowledge and openness to different thoughts are a development tool that allows us to replicate these experiences in each of our classrooms.
